6. Washington & Old Dominion Trail - This trail is 45 miles of paved route stretches from Arlington to Purcellville. Are you up for the challenge to do the round-trip of 90 miles? It cuts through towns, such as Herndon, where cyclists from all over gather to grab a bite to eat.


Honestly, you don't have to visit a park to bike ride. There are long walking trails, such as paved sidewalks parallel to parkways such as Prince Williams Parkway between Woodbridge and Manassas. As someone who rode a bicycle in Japan to work everyday and everywhere because that was my primary means of transportation, bicycling isn't just for exercise or leisure. Try riding your bicycle to the gym or to the grocery store. Or if you are in an area close to the metro train, ride your bike, hop on the train and ride around Washington D.C. It will save you on gas and parking fees.
